‘Can you be here at 7.30?' I’m a little bit late and they already started picking grapes. The light is beautiful, fresh and crisp with a thin morning cloud. I start to shoot, while getting to know the team. The energy is amazing, we play music, talk about life and make jokes. The grapes are hiding in the plants, not organized like other wine yards, this one is very old and wild.

After the picking we fill up the truck and drive to the warehouse where I can hear someone playing an instrument I think it’s a trompet. George comes out of warehouse when he hears us arriving, excitement in his eyes. The grapes are being carefully weight and we can start pressing. Filippo is explaining us step by step the process, you can see he’s has a lot of experience, knowledge and passion. It’s a show, we take some old cinema chairs to witness the spectacle, and the first bottles of wine are being opened. I didn’t had breakfast and it’s 11am; why not.

His Italian mother is also here, she flew in to help and is treating us with an amazing pasta. George brings ‘The Ferrari’ to the table, beautiful bottles of red from 2007. The shape of the bottle in incredible, fat and dark green ‘they don’t make them like this any more’. After dinner we stay for hours, drinking grappa from The Ferrari. There’s a wild boars ballsack around the neck of the bottle - don’t ask me why, and yes I touched it.

When i leave Filippo pushes a full box of wine in my arms for helping out. What a beautiful day. Thank you for the warm welcome and to honor to witness this beautiful craft.
